Bloody Mary Festival
The Fall season of the Downtown RiverMarket brings the Bloody Mary Festival! Flock to the river as the area’s top restaurants compete for the title of Best Bloody Mary! Each competing bartender will prepare samples of their signature Bloody Mary and serve to ticket holders. It is free to attend the market on this day, but only ticket holders access bloody mary samples. The day also offers quality vendors as well as food, music, and activities that truly compliment the highlighted beverage.
Did you know that we have a lot of beer born right here in Northeast Louisiana? Each June, BrewFest comes around to highlight local breweries and homebrewers and celebrate nationally renowned brands and products. It takes place right at the Downtown RiverWalk on the Ouachita river and offers unlimited beer samples, food, music, and more to ticket holders.
Brown Bag Concert
Presented by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council. This concert series brings the best of local talent to Anna Gray Park in Monroe. Pack a picnic lunch, and round up the gang to see some great live entertainment.

Downtown Duel / Dueling Pianos
Enjoy not just a concert, but a true musical performance, from some of the fastest flying fingers you’ve ever seen. Downtown Monroe regularly plays host to “dueling piano” performances, with food and spirits from local restaurants. This event is a project by the Downtown River Jam Committee of the Downtown Monroe Alliance.
Downtown Gallery Crawl
Come to downtown Monroe and enjoy the sights and sounds as you “Crawl” from one historic architectural jewel to the next. Each gallery and studio is filled with fine art and friendly faces. Find unique and special artwork for your home or a gift for the fine art lover in your family. Every Crawl features music, food and refreshments. There is no charge to attend and everyone is invited! Presented by Downtown Arts Alliance.

Evil Visions Haunted House @ 501 DeSiard Street
Monroe’s one and only haunted house, Evil Visions keeps it’s guests screaming every Friday and Saturday throughout the month of October. If you manage to escape the haunted house with your soul intact try the Last Ride Coffin, which takes you on a trip “from the funeral to the grave”.
Fireworks and Parade
Every year around Christmas the RiverMarket gets in the holiday spirit, with extended hours and festive vendors. While you’re shopping, check out Santa and the gang as they pass through Downtown Monroe as part of the Christmas Parade. The market then “wraps” things up with a sparkling fireworks display over the Ouachita River. Fireworks presented by Monroe Renaissance.
Geeks Along the River
Geeks Along the River is the area’s first geek fair! Come down to the river to enjoy shopping, gaming tournaments, cosplay contests, and more! Whether you’re into gaming, comics, sci-fi, or are new to the geek world, there’s something for you.
The Holiday Market
Louisiana Food & Music Festival
The LA Food & Music Festival is hosted by the Downtown RiverMarket and is a festival to truly highlight the rich culture and talent in the area and Louisiana at large. Music and food that truly gives tribute to Louisiana is highlighted along with the many talented musicians, artisans, and chefs who keep the area vibrant! There will be multiple stages spread throughout Downtown Monroe to give a multitude of musicians an opportunity to perform. This is a family friendly event with activities for children during the day. Food, music, artisans, local vendors, and spirits will carry the day into the evening.
Monroe Farmer’s Market on Washington Street
All produce is locally grown so supplies will be limited at first and increase through June. Come support our local farmers and grab yourself some of the freshest produce in town.
NELA Music Awards
The NELA Music Awards is the community’s chance to pay tribute to all the local artists, people, and businesses who keep the local music scene alive! The community has opportunity to nominate and vote for their favorites in over twenty categories in preparation for the ceremony which takes place every November. Old Monroe City and Jewish Cemetery Tours
Lora Peppers of the Ouachita Parish Public Library conducts tours of the historic Jewish Cemetery and the old City Cemetery throughout the year. The walking tour commemorates many of the founders of the City of Monroe, while Ms. Peppers provides detailed information on other famous residents.

'Ritas on the River
The area’s first Margarita Festival takes place in the spring at the Downtown RiverMarket along the Ouachita River! A limited number of tickets are sold for to access the area’s finest ‘ritas! The atmosphere takes you right down to the beaches of Mexico with food, music, and vendors as the area’s top restaurants send their best bartenders to compete for title of Best Margarita. Tickets gain attendees access to samples of each bartender’s very best margarita. In 2016, 500 people celebrated the inaugural event, and Warehouse Number 1 Restaurant took home the People’s Choice award while Avocado’s won Best Margarita!
The Downtown Economic Development District, Ouachita Parish Public Library, and the Downtown Monroe Alliance host several Virtual Tours of Downtown Monroe, presented by Larry Foreman of the Ouachita Parish Library. The tour showcases original downtown Monroe sites as well as the current. Enjoy lunch while learning more about the history of downtown Monroe.
