Downtown Monroe is home to several museums. Whether you enjoy art or history, you can find something of interest. For the children, the museums provide a fun and learning experience. Downtown Monroe also has an amazing compilation of art galleries filled with tasteful works from local, regional and national artists. Our art galleries display a variety of styles. The culture of the city can be clearly seen through these wonderful galleries and the superb pieces of art, which resemble the heart of their enthusiastic creators.

This warm and inviting space on the Ouachita River is the studio of fine art and commercial photography produced by Joli Livaudais Grisham. The gallery’s schedule of guest artists and a description of the artwork currently on display available on their website. Artists' talks are generally at 6 pm during each Gallery Crawl.

The Palace Gallery

The Palace Gallery is “Revivin’ the heart and soul of Downtown Monroe through art, culture, and community.” Exhibits range from art by college students to children's art to special exhibits by area photographers. At some of the Gallery Crawls, guest artists do demonstrations of their work, such as throwing pots on a wheel or blowing glass.

Sugar Gallery

The Sugar Studio Gallery features work from resident artists Crystal and Scott Stone, Stacy Medaries, Leah Reitzell, Whitney Trisler, Burg Ransom (nature photography) and Diane Rosenberg (“rocks on” handcrafted jewelry).

Guest artists from area universities often exhibit here as well as other local artists.
